ELAINE
TAYLOR-GORDON,
President and Publisher of WomensBiz.US,
is well-known in marketing circles for building brands like Snapple,
B. Dalton Booksellers and Helmsley Hotels. She has worked in packaged
goods, media, automotive and beverages as well as in fashion and
the cosmetic and fragrance industry. As Director of Sales Development
at Revlon, International, she created sell-in/sell-through programs
in14 countries including the Pacific Rim, and was an integral part
of the launch team in Brazil. As Marketing Chief at Foley's, she
launched Lagerfeld for Men among many major efforts. She was VP
of Marketing at B. Dalton Booksellers and the Izod division of General
Mills.
As President of Taylor-Gordon Aarons & Company, Elaine also
served as a new product marketing consultant for American Express
Bank, working with international corporations wishing to enter the
US market, as well as with Coty International (which she represented
for 12 years) Snapple and Benckiser. But perhaps her most memorable
accomplishment was the highly-regarded advertising created for controversial
client, Leona Helmsley!
For seven years, Elaine was a retained executive search consultant
with Kenzer NY, an international search firm. Women's Business NY,
the brand she is credited for creating in the New York City tri-state
area, became an integral part of the business landscape; applauded
for profiling women and giving them a voice. When it lost funding
in May 2003, she launched WomensBiz.US with her own money, creating
a national entity and website. She also developed the Women To Watch
networking events and Women To Watch radio series on 1010 WINS which
she writes and hosts.
Elaine is past Vice President and Board member of the NY Women's
Forum. She has served on or chaired several committees of the International
Women's Forum and the Fashion Group. Author of "A Businesswoman's
Guide to 30 Cities," published by Congdon-Weed during the 80s.
During the 90s, she produced, directed and hosted "Home Sweet
Home," a local cable show on home renovation. She is also a
member of NY NAWBO and Women in Communication (WICI). Mother of
two young businesswomen, she recently relocated from Scarsdale to
White Plains where she is renovating a 90 year-old house.
A graduate of the University of Vermont with a BA in Speech and
Psychology, Elaine studied post-graduate Management and Marketing
at the Baruch School of Business. She has been honored by the YWCA
and the Association for Advancement of Mexican Americans in Houston,
TX, and has served as a mentor to many young women. She is a frequent
speaker at business groups and universities around the United States.
